Hide all drives from My Computer

Step 1. Go to Start -> Run. 

Step 2. Type regedit

Step 3. Now go to:
            HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Step  4. Now in the right pane, create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives (it is case sensitive).

Step  5. Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .

Step  6. Now restart your computer. 

Step  7. So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...).

To enable display of drives,simply delete this DWORD item that you created. Again restart your computer. You can now see all the drives again

Make your vista fast

So you are using windows vista feel that slower than XP.Then you have come to the right place
Following tutorials helps you to make your vista fast.

1. Right click on my computer icon on desktop and select properties
    Click on Advanced system setting,go to advance tab
    Click on setting  button in performance selection.








  










Now uncheck all unnecessary options in visual effects tab.

 i.  Enable desktop composition (If you want to use Windows Aero theme)
 ii. Enable transparent glass (If you want to use transparency in Windows)
 iii. Show preview and filters in folder (If you use Details Pane in Explorer
 iv. Show thumbnails instead of icons (If you want to show thumbnails
        in Explorer)
  v. Show window contents while dragging (If you want windows to show
      content while moving them)
 vi. Smooth edges of screen fonts (If you want to show smooth fonts)
 vii. Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop (If you want to
       show shadows under desktop icon labels)
 viii. Use visual styles on windows and buttons (If you want to use
        Windows Aero or Basic theme.)



















2.Go to my computer click organize  select folder and search option
    and click view tab

















Now disable following options

 i. Display file size information in folder tips.
 ii. Display simple folder view in Navigation pane.
 iii. Hide extensions for known file types.
 iv. Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
 v. Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items.
  Other option don't affect the system performance.you can enable
  disable it according to your requirements

3.Type msconfig in RUN or Start menu search box and press Enter.
   Now go to Startup tab and deselect the unnecessary entries, which
   you don't want to start automatically with Windows, e.g. you can
   disable VGA driver utility, Sound Card utility, etc to speed up the s
   tartup time and to increase system performance.

   You can also disable these items using Windows Defender.
  Open Windows Defender and click on Tools and then click on
  "Software Explorer".

4. Now you can see big improvement in your vista performance.

Show your name beside taskbar Clock

This helps you  to  show your name beside  taskbar clock.
follow these steps.
This works in windows XP and Vista

Step 1:Go to control panel > Regional & Language Options.

Step 2: Go to Regional Potions tab click on Customize & Go to Time Tab.
            For Vista : In the bottom of the Format tab click on Customize
             this format button.














Step 3: Select the AM Symbol box & enter your name or any
            desired text. ( This Will Show up Instead of AM )

Step 4: Select PM Symbol box & enter your name or any
            desired text. ( This Will Show up Intead of PM )

Step 5: click apply and ok




Done.enjoy it.

Vista tricks










Many people use vista.if you are one of them,this guide might help you.
Follow these steps.


1.Make vista stranded look.

  Step 1:  Go to "regedit" (press windows key +R and type "regedit")
  Step 2:  Go to this location.( HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software >
                Microsoft > Windows >registry key)
  Step 3:  Right Panel double click Composition key and change its values
                to 1. Also change the value of Composition Policy to 2. 
  Step 4 : Close it and press again windows key +R and type "services.msc"
  Step 5:  Search "Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager" and restart
                it by clicking the restart option
  Step 6:  Restart your windows
  Step 7: When the Windows Reload, right click on desktop>properties>
               Windows color and appearance and apply
               Windows Vista Standard style

2. Show the "RUN" box in start menu.

  Step 1: Right click on task bar and select properties
  Step 2: Click customize on start menu
              tab.                             
  Step 3: Search and check the run command 
              check box.
  Step 4: Click ok.done.
              go to start menu and see Run box


3.Create a partition without data lost

Step 1: Right click my computer and select manage.
Step 2: Select disk management under the storerage
Step 3: The middle screen would be split into two parts.
            The Lower part showing the partitions in block
            form and upper part showing partitions in
            tabular form.
Step 4: Right click on partition you wish and select shrink
            Volume.
Step 5: Define the size you wish and click ok to begin
            the process


4.Disable Hibernate

Step 1: Go to "cmd" (go to start > all programs > accessories >
            right click on command  prompt and select
            Run as Administrator  )
Step 2:  In command prompt and type powercfg –H OFF and enter.

5.How to use more clocks

 Step 1: click on the System Time  showing on the system tray and
             select Change Date and Time settings
Step 2: Click on Additional Clocks tab and check the Show this clock
            option and set the required time zone. You can use 2 such
            clock and hence total 3 clocks including your own time zone
Step 3: click ok.



6. Disable user access protection

Step 1: Press windows key +R and type "Msconfig.sys"
Step 2:  Go to tools tab and search disable UAP and
            click lunch button.
Step 3: Restart your windows.

Change default installation files location in vista & windows 7

If you need to Change default installation files location.follow these steps.


Step 1: Go to "Start" type "regedit" and click it.

Step 2: Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft
            \ Windows\ CurrentVersion"










Step 3: Go to right side and  Double click “ProgramFilesDir”
and  change the path what you want.like below.










done.Now when you will install some software,
your default installation path will be change.

Speedup your sata hard disk in vista

You can speedup your sata hard disk.folow these steps.

Step 1: Right click "my computer >  properties > Device manager"

Step 2: Go to "disk drives"and select your hard disk or use disk.right click
             and select properties












Step 3:  Go to policies and click the checkbox for Enable "advanced performance"


















done.

 Now your hard disk will speedup.
